Does anyone have the facsimile of the Bach ms. of the Fugue in Gm from
BWV 1001, for violin solo? It is published as part of: Bach, J.S. - 6
Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Solo - With facsimile of the autograph
manuscript - Ivan Galamian - BWV 1001-1006 - International Music
Company ยท No. 2525
I can't find my copy. In the Bach-Gesellschaft Edition of BWV 1001, in

the 4th measure before the end, there is an Ab at the second 16th note
of the 3rd beat. However, in the lute version, BWV 1000, there is an A

natural in the same place, in the accompanying tabulature as well. So,

I wanted to look at the autograph manuscript facsimile of BWV 1001 to
verify the Ab. But because my tons of music is in a disorganized mess
I can't find it! Logically, I think the Ab is correct because the
sequence in that measure and the next makes more sense that way.

So, if you have the facsimile of BWV 1001 please let me know ASAP, I
have to play this in concert soon. I've played it for years with the A

natural and that kind of change can be tricky, but if the autograph
score has the Ab I want to make the change.

Grazie,
A.

OK, I can answer my own question as I just found the facsimile (I
mistakenly put it in with the Bach pile and never thought of looking
there until a few minutes ago as I assumed I would never have put it in
the right place).

It is in fact an A natural in the autograph in measure 91, 2nd 16th
note of the 3rd beat. So much for my logic about the sequence, and
score another mistake for the Bach-Gesellschaft Edition (Dover
Publications). Anyway, glad I don't have to make the change, I've been
playing that A natural for 33 years!
