hallo,

i'm looking for a special incomplete piece of j.s.bach, i've heard in a
tv-movie.
it sounds like a piano or chembalo, and it ends appruptly. he must have
written it shortly before his death (at least, that's what the movie says)
thanks to everyone,

This would be the final fugue in Art of Fugue.

I had a student who performed it on a recital and stopped right there where
Bach stopped. It was the most jarring effect imaginable, especially if
you're immersed in listening to the piece unfold. He just stopped in the
middle of the fugue. His organ teacher didn't approve, and wanted him to
use one of the "completions," but he was adamant and refused to continue
beyond the point where the Master died.

The student passed, and has been quite successful. His 800-page book on
ancient Greek music recently won the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP, among
other things!
