Hello all,

Can anybody recommend a good CD recording of the Magnificat in D,
including the "Anhang"?

TIA,

I'm rather depressed that no one has replied to this post...

By the "Anhang" I assume you mean the four "Christmas Interpolations." Those
movements only properly belong to the original, E-flat version of the
Magnificat, composed for Christmas in Leipzig, 1723. When Bach revied the
work ca. 1730 and tranposed it to D, he left out those four movements (so
the work could be performed at any festival day, not just Christmas). There
are several good recordings of the E-flat version -- by Preston, Herreweghe,
Rilling, Parrott, and others.

Yes, indeed. I should have called them "Einlagen."

Ok, thanks a lot. I will look around for them.

The confusion arose because I'm looking for these for an upcoming
performance of the Magnificat and the Einlagen, but in which the
Magnificat will be the D version.

What are the differences between the Eb and D versions? (Besides the
Einlagen.)

In the Eb version: no flutes in the orchestra, recorders in "Et
misericordia," a slide trumpet instead of an oboe in "Suscepit Israel," and
lots of differing details in the vocal and instrumental parts.
